Questions are again being asked about senior officials' salaries as figures are published showing that the Chief Executive of Tory-run Herts County Council is paid over £200k making her the eighth highest paid council official in the country.
Lib Dem County Council Candidate for Vicarage and Holywell division in Hertfordshire, Susan Gaszczak said: 'There is an outcry currently on both MPs' expenses and senior officials' pay. It is not just MPs who need a full review of salaries and allowances: all public bodies should review the pay, terms and conditions for senior staff. We now need a comprehensive review of public sector rewards.'
Susan continued: 'When you look at the private sector and compare the public sector to it, there are enormous differences in sick pay, pension rights and general terms of employment. We need to make this system more equal - and soon - before all of government is tarnished by the current situation.'
