Fix our Roads Petition

12.23.00pm GMT Tue 25th Nov 2008

Ian Simpson, Liberal Democrat campaigner, today (Tuesday 25th November) presented a petition from over 200 angry residents in North Herts Rural Division to the County Council. The petition called on the County Council to 'meet their responsibilities to keep our highway in good condition'.

Ian said: 'This is an issue which is raised frequently by residents who are rightly convinced that our roads are getting worse year on year. There is a large backlog of roads in our area needing urgent repair, the county claims it has no money to make these repairs but poor prioritisation and the badly run Herts Highways are as much to blame.'

He continued: 'An example residents will identify with is that of the badly filled pot-hole repair which normally only lasts a few weeks. Residents can still sign the petition at http://www.northhertslibdems.org.uk/roadspetition.'
