On 11th May Parliamentary candidate Dr Richard Grayson, County Council candidate Ron Tindall and European candidate Linda Jack visited the Herts Mind Network office.

CEO Julie Attree - raised many concerns about the current state of mental health care in Hemel Hempstead & across the whole of Hertfordshire.

As a result the Liberal Democrats are calling for the following - more co-ordination of services for those with mental health conditions, particularly in relation to housing, a fair system for allocating bus passes, more investment in mental health services generally.

Euro Candidate Linda Jack said "It is inexcusable that the Hemel area has no acute unit for mental health patients. This adds to the distress for patients and families when they have to travel outside of the area for appropriate care. I urge the NHS Trust to make resolving this issue a priority."

Dr Richard Grayson said, "Mind do great work in the local area, in difficult circumstances. It's important that they are thoroughly integrated into local services."
